Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sabatier Precision 14-Piece Stainless-Steel Knife Block SetCustomer Review: Economical, Complete Cutlery Collection Summary: 5 Stars
A lot of life can be discovered in these stainless steel Sabatier beauties.
There was the time at Mrs. Hibblekibble's Boarding House at the Eliot School for Boys when all six steak knives were used. Normally, butter knives were adequate, but this time, Mrs. H made us sirloins. No one ever knew why she did this, but we were thankful just the same.
Saturday mornings, Mrs. H made potato bread, and the bread knife saw plenty of action parsing out what would soon be buttered toast.
The chef's knife had various duties worthy of mention. It was key to pumpkin carving, and essential to all sorts of chopping. On Friday nights, she'd make us French fries. Actually, Ben would do the cutting, but Mrs. H prepared a special spice (she never told us the ingredients, but paprika was part of her mix). It's real glory was on Thanksgiving every year.
The slicer doubled as a bread knife, but so did every knife when we were in a hurry.
The utility knife, we think, was lifted by Stephen who took the liberty of etching his true, enduring love to Dottie. He wound up marrying Mandy Doolittle, but it is "S loves D 4-ever" which remains on the east side of the trunk on the half-dead maple out by the garage.
The boning knife never got much use, and today is likely as sharp as ever. Not one of us in Mrs. Hibblekibble's Boarding House liked fish, though Robby did use this knife to slice summer sausage. Mrs. H clearly let Robby know he should reconsider the next time -- she had him skin dozens of potatoes for mashing with the paring knife instead of watching the football game with the rest of us.
Mrs. Hibblekibble's knife set served pizza duty many a night when Robby discovered the shears were excellent pizza cutters.
The sharpening tool never saw much light as no one knew how to use it properly.
Pick up this handy set of knives from Sabatier and begin dining own adventures with your family.

Description of Sabatier Precision 14-Piece Stainless-Steel Knife Block SetYou won't be missing a single cutting tool with this 14-piece cutlery block set from Sabatier. It contains a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, an 8-inch chef knife, an 8-inch slicer, an 8-inch bread knife, a 6-inch boning knife, six 5-inch steak knives, a pair of kitchen shears, a sharpening steel, and a 14-slot block to keep them in. The knives are made from high-carbon stainless steel, which is the industry standard, and have full tangs, meaning that the steel goes all the way through the handle. These knives feel a little lighter than professional quality sets, and won't hold the same razor-sharp edge, but for those looking for a complete starter set these will work just fine. The shears are a nice bonus when cutting through bones or joints, and they'll cut through bags and boxes and do a fine job of snipping herbs into a sauce. The sharpening steel helps to keep the blade true, and the block keeps tools handy and protected. --Maria Dolan What's in the Box 3-1/2-inch paring knife, 8-inch chef knife, 8-inch slicer, 8-inch bread knife, 6-inch boning knife, six 5-inch steak knives, kitchen shears, sharpening steel, 14-slot block
