Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Sabatier Precision 3-1/2-Inch Stainless Steel Chef's ParerCustomer Review: Precision Line Made in China Summary: 2 Stars
The copy here has a misprint. The precision line including this parer is made in China not France. This is part of Sabatier's "affordable" line. The Sabatier knives made in France are much higher quality and more expensive. These knives are pressed not forged.I have this knife which I received as part of a 14pc knife set. I still use some of the knives but not this parer. The precision line is fine as far as pressed knives go. They have a full tang but no bolster. The synthetic handle is easy to maintain. The weight is good for pressed knives. ... If you don't have any experience with good knives consider doing some research and buying a discounted piece or two (or five) of the various lines once you feel comfortable. Also, consider ergonomic factors like the relation of the handle design to your hand size or the weight of the knives to your strength. If you buy knives with an uncomfortable handle you might miss your old 3/4 tang oxo parer instead of realizing what junk it was and how could you have used it for so long! Finally, consider how you will care for the knife before buying anything as low maintainence knives are often cheap while quality knives require loving care to maintain their awesome performance. ... Amazon has great customer service so if you buy this by mistake just send them an email or call for return authorization. ...
Description of Sabatier Precision 3-1/2-Inch Stainless Steel Chef's ParerSabatier has been making fine cutlery in France for more than 150 years, and that experience is evident in this paring knife from their affordable Precision line. At 3-1/2 inches long, it's lightweight, razor-sharp, and a handy size for basic, everyday chopping and slicing of small fruits, vegetables, and more--it's a knife you'll reach for often. Sabatier constructs their Precision line from heavy-gauge, high-carbon stainless steel for maximum strength and adds a full tang for perfect alignment and balance. Three rivets in the handle add structural strength. Hand wash with mild soap for best results and a long life. --Meg Heffernan
