At first I was a little concerned over some of the negative reviews for this product, but being a sucker for a bargain I figured I'd give em a try. I suppose they don't hold up to $500.00 sets, but take it from someone who actually used a cheap $29.00 set on a daily basis, these knives are a GREAT deal. I only wish I had purchased the 15 piece set first. My cheap...set which actually cost a tad more than these went in the trash. So basically if your like most busy families and you only expect your kitchen equipment to help get a meal on the table, you'll love these. If your an experience cook/chef and actually know the difference between a good knife and a great knife(I'm not, with 4 boys who has the time) then you may not like these. But for the average person whose cabinets are stocked with everyday dishes...utensils etc....these are SUPER! The reviewers who weren't impressed should have to use my old set.

This 7-piece set contains all the basic kitchen knives, and then some, including a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, an 8-inch chef's knife, a 6-inch utility knife, a 6-inch boning knife, and an 8-inch slicer, as well as a sharpening steel and a knife block. The knives are forged from high-carbon stainless steel, which is the industry standard, and have full tangs, meaning that the steel goes all the way through the handle. These knives feel a little lighter than professional quality sets, and won't hold the same razor-sharp edge, but for those looking for a complete starter set these will work just fine.
